online personal training

In today’s digital age, we can do just about everything online. Every aspect of our lives from shopping for groceries to filing taxes now has an online option, and working out is no different. Of course, you can’t actually work out online, but you can get personal training online that shows you how to work out in real life.

With the quality of video and audio communication nowadays, there’s really not much difference between seeing a coach in real life or on a video. Depending on how you learn best, online personal training might actually be the best way for you to get in shape.

But, it’s not a perfect setup. There are some negative aspects to online training as well, so let’s take a look at the good, the bad, and the ugly side of online personal training.

The Good

If you have enough motivation to stick with it, online personal training can be one of the most efficient ways to get into shape. It is perfect for those individuals who have little time on their hands or don’t have a gym membership. Through online instructionals, courses, and videos, your trainer can demonstrate everything you need to know about working out.

This includes warming up, stretching, different types of workouts, how often and how intense to work out, how to cool down, how to rest and how often to rest, nutritional advice and even meal planning as well. With know-how in each of these areas, you can get yourself into phenomenal shape. After all, nobody else can do the reps for you anyway. It shouldn’t really matter whether you get the info through online personal training or in person, as long as you can put it to use consistently.

The Bad

Sometimes it can be hard to determine the credibility of an online trainer. They might make claims about their background and their success rates but not be able to substantiate them when pressed for more information. This is why it’s important to look for trainers and personal training apps that are heavily reviewed. Also, it might be hard for a trainer to effectively correct your form if you or they don’t have a good camera or can’t get multiple angles on your form for certain techniques. This could lead to injury if you end up performing an exercise over and over again with improper form.

The Ugly

Some people just don’t have the motivation or can hold themselves accountable to be healthy and fit by using online personal training methods. If this is you, you’re better off getting a trainer in real life. If you can’t motivate yourself to get up and exercise then you’re much better off to have a coach instruct you and ensure that you do not quit on yourself.

Home Workouts Aren’t for Everyone

If you think you could follow video instructions and communicate with a trainer effectively through text, then online training through an online fitness app might be for you. It will be hard if you aren’t disciplined enough, but if you are you’ll be able to get serious results without even having to leave your house.
